FUNDING AND EXPENDITURES In 2006, the Population Council recorded expenditures of $75 million, of which 83 percent went to program activities designed to advance the Council's mission of improving the well-being and reproductive health of current and future generations. The Council experienced a 1.6 percent increase in program services. Generous donors enabled the Council to enjoy a successful year of fundraising. Donor grants and gifts increased 10.3 percent. The Council's royalty stream—generated from the licensing of products developed in its laboratories—contributed over $6.2 million in unrestricted funding.
