FRONTIERS PROJECT
Technical Assistance to the Interagency Working Group Seeking to Reduce Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting

This project, built on the FRONTIERS program’s extensive experience with initiatives supporting the abandonment of female genital mutilation and cutting (FGM/C), sought to help develop a comprehensive program of interventions against FGM/C and other harmful traditional practices. FRONTIERS provided technical assistance to member organizations of the Interagency Working Group on FGM/C (including UNICEF, WHO, UNFPA, and the Inter-African Committee on Traditional Practices) to increase the effectiveness of strategies to reduce the practice and to promote the use of research findings in the development of strategies. The project also conducted capacity building for organizations working on FGM/C, especially capacity for monitoring and evaluation of interventions, and assistance in networking and awareness-building to increase the visibility of FGM/C at the national, regional, and international levels
