FRONTIERS PROJECT
Strengthening the Capacity of the Reproductive Health and HIV Research Unit to Provide Training in Operations Research and Data Utilization

FRONTIERS and the World Health Organization (WHO) have been collaborating in an effort to institutionalize the capacity to conduct operations research (OR) in developing countries. As part of this project (formally titled "An Integrated Strategy for Strengthening the Capacity of the Reproductive Health Research Unit to Train Researchers and Program Managers in Operations Research (OR) and Data Utilization"), FRONTIERS, the WHO, the Ministry of Health, and the Reproductive Health and HIV Research Unit (RHRU) of the University of the Witwatersrand collaborated to provide four training courses on reproductive health operations research. Over 100 professionals from 15 African countries attended. OR has been integrated into the RHRU's regular training program. The results of this collaboration were presented at the annual Reproductive Health Priorities Conference in South Africa in 2003.
