FRONTIERS PROJECT
Global Agenda: Involving Men in Their Partners’ Antenatal and Postpartum Care

FRONTIERS, Taylor Nelson Sofres Mode Pvt. Ltd., and the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) collaborated on this project to test the impact of men’s involvement with their partners' maternal care on health outcomes in three ESIC clinics in Delhi. In the experimental group 82 percent of the women reported that they had discussed family planning with their husbands during the postpartum period. More intervention clients used family planning compared to the control group: 51 percent of women reported using a method at follow-up, and 44 percent of men reported using condoms postpartum. Based on the success of this pilot project, the intervention was scaled up in ten dispensaries in Delhi (see "Scaling Up the India Men in Maternity (MiM) Intervention in Delhi").
