FRONTIERS PROJECT
Evaluation Study of a Maternal and Child Health/Family Planning Matching Grants Program in the Philippines

Working with the Philippines Ministry of Health, researchers from FRONTIERS and Management Sciences for Health evaluated and provided recommendations for a government grants program to support interventions to improve maternal health and family planning programs. The study found that local governments are responsive to new ideas and innovative in implementation. Cost-effectiveness studies of selected interventions are needed to guide choices. This matching grants program experience can help address larger issues of the health sector reform agenda
