FRONTIERS PROJECT This project was designed to upgrade antenatal and postpartum services at primary health care clinics in three areas of the West Bank and Gaza. FRONTIERS provided institutional support to build the research capacity of the Health, Development, Information and Policy Institute, a nonprofit research organization. Project activities included a baseline survey of clients and providers of maternal and child health services, a study on involving men in their wives’ postpartum care, and a study on improving outreach between hospitals and postpartum women. Findings from the male involvement study suggested the need to educate men on their wives’ reproductive health and to accommodate men by providing evening hours and a men’s waiting area in clinics. The study on outreach showed that although women often fail to seek care for themselves after giving birth, they often seek services for their infants.
