FRONTIERS PROJECT
Effects and Cost of Implementing a “Gender-Sensitive” Reproductive Health Program

Researchers from FRONTIERS and the Coordination Program in Integral Health (PROCOSI), a network of 24 nongovernmental organizations in the health and community development sector in Bolivia, documented the effects and cost of measures to incorporate a gender perspective into reproductive health service delivery – to integrate the concepts of quality, gender equity and sexual and reproductive rights at the management and service levels. The intervention led to modest improvements in provider practices, increased client satisfaction, and improvements in interspousal communication.
