FRONTIERS PROJECT
Technical Assistance to Pathfinder for Postabortion Care Operations Research

To improve the quality of the postabortion care (PAC) program in Bolivia, Pathfinder is conducting a series of diagnostic and operations research studies in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MOH). FRONTIERS provided technical assistance to Pathfinder for the implementation of its operations research project on PAC in Bolivia, including training Pathfinder’s Bolivia staff members and their MOH counterparts from participating hospitals in research topics related to the implementation of the study. Results revealed that barriers in developing the PAC program include provider resistance to new techniques (64 percent), lack of appropriate service-delivery protocols (40 percent), and high demand for services and insufficient staff (40 percent).
