FRONTIERS PROJECT
Testing a Model for the Delivery of Emergency Obstetric Care and Family Planning Services in the Bolivian Public Health System

FRONTIERS collaborated with Ipas to test improvements in the delivery of postabortion care (PAC) in public hospitals in Bolivia. Significant improvements were made in informing PAC clients about the procedure and follow-up care. There was a high demand for contraceptive services, but few women left the facilities with a method. The study found that service sustainability depends on financing mechanisms and the quality of program implementation.
