FRONTIERS PROJECT
Setting Prices for Reproductive Health Services in a Public Hospital in Guatemala

Researchers from FRONTIERS and the Reproductive Health Unit at Hospital Roosevelt assessed the willingness to pay for reproductive health services at the largest public hospital in Guatemala to provide hospital administrators with economic information to support decisions for setting fees. The study found that current user fees cover about half of the hospital’s total costs per month. Researchers recommended several areas for productivity improvement to increase overall revenues and recommended replication of the hospital’s costing model at other facilities.
