FRONTIERS PROJECT
Assessing the Need and Opportunities for Improved Linkages Between Conditional Cash Transfers and Reproductive Health Programs in the Latin America and Caribbean Region

The purpose of this project was to document conditional cash transfer programs (CCTs) to identify possible opportunities to improve links between CCTs and reproductive health programs, and to assess potential roles for operations research within these programs. These programs, which provide cash to poor, mainly rural families upon compliance with specific health- and education-related conditions, have been shown to be effective in reaching the poor. Researchers conducted desk reviews and site visits to CCT programs in six countries (Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Honduras, Jamaica, Nicaragua, and Peru) and prepared country briefing papers and a synthesis paper on CCT programs and reproductive health services.
