The Population Council is working with the Reproductive Health Working Group to conduct studies based on the Giza (Egypt) Morbidity Study methodology, looking at gynecological and related illnesses in the Ein-El-Basha district in Amman. (See "Rural Egyptian women..." in Publications/Resources at right.) Council researchers are also examining the effect of health-sector reform on the quality of services.

Council staff members in Cairo and New York have provided assistance to the UNICEF office in Amman and the Jordanian Department of Statistics in producing a national survey of youth in Jordan. Researchers are analyzing early findings and planning for the next phase, which involves an intervention study.
