MIDDLE EAST
Lebanon

A study to assess the reproductive health of women in two villages in the Beqaa, a rural area of Lebanon, was conducted by the Population Council's Reproductive Health Working Group (RHWG).

The RHWG is a multidisciplinary group of social and medical researchers interested in reproductive health research of quality and relevance to the region. The study builds upon previous work in Egypt and Jordan. Data analysis is under way and publications are forthcoming.

Lebanon is one of three Arab societies included in a major new study of changing family dynamics. This research will address issues of public debate around families in law, medicine and education, as well as mobility/displacement as it affects family welfare.
