MIDDLE EAST
Turkey

Through the Population Council's Middle East Awards (MEAwards) program, Turkish scholars are addressing a number of issues related to migration. Studies are looking at the effects of migration status on health and the formation of group identity.

At the Child Health Institute in Istanbul, a Council-sponsored research project explored new fathers taking a more active role in the well-being and development of their infants. Another project goal included strengthening family communication on a range of child care and reproductive health issues.
