The MEAwards program Secretariat, based in the Population Council's West Asia and North Africa (WANA) regional office, coordinates program activities, maintains communication within the network, encourages the submission of research and workshop proposals, follows up on advisory committee recommendations, and provides information, feedback, and technical consultation to applicants and awardees.

Administrative assistant Salma Shaltout (Egypt) has been with the Council's MEAwards program since 2001. Shaltout completed her secretarial studies at the American University in Cairo. (e-mail: ssaid@pccairo.org)
