An Asian Perspective

Sixth Annual Population Research Conference
Islamabad, Pakistan, 29 November–1 December 2005

Detailed agenda

Mission statement
The Population Association of Pakistan (PAP), established by the Population Council, is working to promote and strengthen the discipline of population by providing a platform to subject experts for facilitating their professional development and sharing of scientific knowledge and experiences in population and the related disciplines.

Annual Population Research Conference
The conference is being co-sponsored by international donor/agency partners in the social development sector. The conference program will focus on critical population issues pertaining to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in the Asian context. The sharing of knowledge among scholars and professionals will give them an opportunity to learn from each other's experiences and identify avenues for future collaboration at a regional level.

Call for abstracts
To achieve the objectives, PAP has invited abstracts for the conference, which should have reached the PAP Secretariat by 31 July 2005. All abstracts will be reviewed and selected by an International Scientific Committee (see below). Information about acceptance of abstracts will be communicated to authors by 30 August 2005. The last date for the receipt of completed papers is 30 September 2005. If the paper is not received by the due date, it will not be included in the conference program. After reviewing the papers, members of the Scientific Committee will recommend to the PAP Secretariat if the paper presenter is eligible for financial support. All accepted abstracts will be posted at the PAP Web site. Once accepted, submitted papers will be the property of PAP and will be published in the proceedings of the conference. However, later, the revised version of the paper can be submitted for publication elsewhere, with due acknowledgement given to PAP.
