Interventions to Accelerate the Abandonment of FGM:
Lessons Learned
An online discussion forum
The Population Council’s INTACT Network (International Network to Analyze, Communicate and Transform the Campaign against Female Genital Mutilation or FGM) invites you to join a newly launched online discussion forum that is hosted by the Implementing Best Practices Web site.
The forum seeks to provide activists, researchers, and scholars from around the world with opportunities to discuss the culture, gender, and human rights issues underlying FGM and share approaches to achieve abandonment of the practice, strategies to engage policymakers, and ideas in evaluating the impact of interventions.
In observance of International Day of Zero Tolerance to FGM, the INTACT Network will host "Interventions to Accelerate the Abandonment of FGM: Lessons Learned," 8–20 February 2010, an e-discussion on implementing interventions against FGM. This global online forum is an opportunity to share experiences, challenges, and lessons learned; pose questions; and have a discussion with colleagues who are experienced in the field of FGM.
During the two-week forum discussants from the Population Council, the Population Reference Bureau, UNFPA, UNICEF, and civil society will answer—and pose—questions as well as stimulate conversation and brainstorming. Participants will receive a daily digest of contributions from the moderated forum.
We would like to invite you to join this forum. To join, please go to http://my.ibpinitiative.org/public/fgm. Once you log in, you will be able to access the discussion forum. You will be able to participate simply by responding to the daily digest or by sending a message at any time to fgm@my.ibpinitiative.org.
This online discussion is sponsored by Wallace Global Fund.
