Population Council Welcomes Distinguished Attorney and Philanthropist Henry L. King to Its Board of Trustees

Henry L. King

NEW YORK, NY (8 December 2006) — Henry L. King, noted lawyer and humanitarian, was elected to the Population Council’s board of trustees. Hired straight from Yale Law School, King rose to the position of chairman and managing partner at the international law firm of Davis Polk & Wardwell, where he is now senior counsel. Davis Polk & Wardwell has been consistently recognized by the legal media and independent law associations for its professional expertise and its commitment to staff diversity and pro bono efforts. Most of King’s practice has been in litigation and corporate governance. He is a past chairman of the board of trustees of Columbia University.

“King’s leadership roles with a range of prominent educational, public health, and social service organizations demonstrates his dedication to humanitarian goals and international issues. We are pleased to have the opportunity to benefit from King’s acumen and compassion,” says Population Council president Peter J. Donaldson.

Currently the Population Council’s board of trustees is composed of 14 women and men. Other trustees include influential academic, private-sector, government, health, and international development professionals from eight countries.
