Collection: CHPS and GEMI—Durbar Celebrating the Launch of the Ghana Essential Medicines Initiative, April 2007

Durbars are convened by chiefs and elders to build community consensus about matters of common interest, such as development decisions, social order, or the launching of activities requiring collective action. Speechmaking and open discussion builds consensus with pageantry, dancing, and drumming providing a means of celebrating progress with development and problem solving.

These and other images are available to journalists and publishers free of charge when used with the proper permissions and credits. For questions or permission, please contact pubinfo@popcouncil.org.
