Journals and Newsletters

Population and Development Review, a quarterly, peer-reviewed journal, seeks to advance knowledge of the interrelationships between population change and socioeconomic development and serves as a forum for discussion of related policy issues. PDR has a worldwide circulation of 5,000, including over 2,900 complimentary subscribers, 2,400 of whom reside in less developed countries (LDCs). Readers' primary fields of interest are economic and social development, population and development planning, and demographic analysis and statistics. Nearly 50 percent of readers are affiliated with universities; staff of private, government, and multinational agencies constitute roughly 35 percent. (more)

Studies in Family Planning is a quarterly, peer-reviewed journal concerned with all aspects of reproductive health, fertility regulation, and family planning programs and their relation to health and development in both developing and developed countries. Studies has a worldwide circulation of 5,400, including some 4,100 complimentary subscribers, nearly 3,600 of whom reside in LDCs. Its readership includes demographers, sociologists, anthropologists, program managers, and policymakers. (more)

Newsletters

Horizons Report is a twice-yearly newsletter of the Horizons Program, which conducts operations research to improve HIV/AIDS prevention, care, and support services in developing countries. Much of its hard copy and electronic circulation of approximately 5,000 reaches regions hard-hit by the epidemic, and many more people read the newsletter online. (more) (sign up)

Momentum is a general-interest newsletter that reports on Population Council research, events, and staff accomplishments. Nearly 1,300 readers receive the printed version of Momentum, which is also available to web visitors. (more) (sign up)

Population Briefs is a thrice-yearly newsletter that reports on Population Council research findings. With a circulation of more than 5,000, the printed version of Population Briefs reaches more than 1,000 readers in less developed countries and thousands more read its articles online. Readers' primary fields of interest are family planning and reproductive health, social science and demography, and gender issues. (more) (sign up)

Quality/Calidad/Qualité is a booklet series that highlights examples of clinical and educational programs which bring a strong commitment, as well as innovative and thoughtful approaches, to the issue of quality care in sexual and reproductive health. The series is based on the philosophy that women and their partners have a fundamental right to respectful treatment, information, choice, and follow-up from reproductive health care providers. SEEDS is a booklet series developed to meet requests from all over the world for information about innovative and practical program ideas developed to address the economic roles and needs of low income women. The booklets are designed as a means to share information and spark new initiatives based on the positive experiences of projects that are working to help women generate livelihoods and to improve their economic status.
