EMPLOYMENT POSITION AVAILABLE TITLE: Associate Director of Development, Corporate Affairs Division REPORTING TO: Director, Corporate Affairs SALARY: Depends on qualifications and experience LOCATION: One Dag Hammarskjold Plaza, New York, NY ASSIGNMENT LENGTH: Indefinite JOB DESCRIPTION Reporting to the director of corporate affairs, the development manager is responsible for planning, implementing, executing, and evaluating a range of fundraising initiatives to increase the level of unrestricted support from individuals and family foundations. This position is responsible for maintaining donor relationships with a targeted approach to current contributors in support of the Annual Fund. The incumbent must report regularly on the progress made in securing general support, endowment, and project-specific grants from individuals and private foundations. The development manager is responsible for organizing donor cultivation events and assisting with special projects as needed. RESPONSIBILITIES

ABOUT THE POPULATION COUNCIL The mission of the Population Council is to improve the well-being and reproductive health of current and future generations around the world. The Population Council conducts research worldwide to improve policies, programs, and products in three areas: HIV and AIDS; poverty, gender, and youth; and reproductive health. Its staff of more than 500 is located in 18 offices in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, in addition to an office in Washington, DC, and its laboratories and headquarters in New York City. The Population Council’s budget for 2008 is approximately $79.7 million with about 50 percent expected to come from US government sources, 8 percent from foreign governments and multilateral organizations, 25 percent from major foundations and nongovernmental organizations, 6 percent from product royalties, and 6 percent from the Council’s endowments of roughly $90 million. Gifts from individuals and family foundations represent another 5 percent of the annual budget.
