POSITION AVAILABLE

TITLE: Senior Research Technician, HIV and AIDS Program

REPORTING TO: Senior Scientist

SALARY: Depends on qualifications and experience

LOCATION: Center for Biomedical Research, New York, NY

ASSIGNMENT LENGTH: Two years, renewable upon mutual agreement

JOB DESCRIPTION

Experienced analytical or formulation chemist to join a multidisciplinary team of scientists and clinicians working on methods to prevent the transmission of HIV.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Formulate and analyze established microbicide gels following standard operating procedures.
  2. Collaborate with team members to develop novel formulations.
  3. Edit and/or write standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  4. Maintain a detailed laboratory notebook.
  5. Present results of work at weekly staff meetings.
  6. Work with antiretroviral compounds and common laboratory chemicals.
  7. Be committed to work safety.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor or master's degree in chemistry or other related field.
  2. Relevant experience with analytical testing and lab instrumentation (FT-IR, HPLC, NMR).
  3. Excellent attention to detail and strict adherence to SOPs is mandatory.
  4. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  5. Ability to work both independently and within a group as needed.
  6. Candidate must have proof of authorization to work in the United States.
