This project seeks to build research capacity in the area of gender and work through small research grants, training workshops, research seminars, peer review, and research dissemination in the Middle East region.

Specifically, project activities include providing small grants to junior researchers, two training workshops, two research seminars, a conference for research awardees to disseminate the results of their own research, and the publication of outstanding research in the form of a working paper series and a book.

The overall objective of the project is to provide young researchers with mentoring and research peer review so that they may pursue high-quality research in the area of gender and work.

The first training workshop provided hands-on training on both quantitative and qualitative research methods with a focus on the thematic area of gender and work. The workshop was attended by 28 young researchers from Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Palestine, Sudan, and Yemen. Following a research competition, 22 researchers received research awards to conduct research on different aspects of gender and work in the MENA region as part of the first awards competition. A second training workshop was recently concluded providing training to 21 participants from all over the region.
