PROJECT
Small-scale Research Grants in Reproductive Health in Pakistan

In order to promote a culture of research in Pakistan, the capacity of young reproductive health researchers must be encouraged. This grants initiative is supporting small-scale innovative research projects in reproductive health that have direct practical relevance to the needs of Pakistan. The initiative has the dual aim of:

  • building the capacity of young researchers; and

  • filling gaps in existing knowledge in priority areas of reproductive health in Pakistan.

The grants are designed to enable and promote collaboration between new and experienced investigators by linking each young researcher/principal investigator to a mentor. Mentors follow the progress of the research from beginning to end, including the publication and dissemination of findings.

This grant-funding initiative is to last for an initial period of two years. Two calls for proposals are made each year, and grants are awarded twice a year after review of the submitted proposals. The review process is rigorous, fair, and transparent and is conducted by the Reproductive Health Research Working Group, which is composed of leading researchers.

The maximum funding for any single grant is US$10,000, and the maximum duration of any research project is two years. Researchers are encouraged to present their findings in conferences and seminars and to publish their research in peer-reviewed journals.
