Video: Population growth
and policy options
in the developing world
At a brown-bag presentation on Tuesday, 6 March 2012, Population Council Vice President and Distinguished Scholar John Bongaarts discussed the powerful role that voluntary family planning programs can play in changing population trends, and how family planning programs and policies can reduce poverty and inequality, and save lives.
John Bongaarts's research focuses on the determinants of fertility; population–environment relationships; the demographic impact of the AIDS epidemic; population aging; and population policy options in the developing world. His research on fertility issues has helped change the way policymakers approach family planning in several countries.
