Mary Philip Sebastian is a senior program officer in the Population Council’s HIV and AIDS program, based in New Delhi, India. Her primary role is to assist in the management of research projects in the HIV and AIDS program. Sebastian was instrumental in implementing a livelihoods program for adolescent girls in Allahabad, an intervention to promote healthy spacing between pregnancies among young women in Meerut, and an intervention to avert HIV infections among injection drug users in Delhi. She has contributed to numerous peer-reviewed journal articles.
Before joining the Council in 2001, Sebastian implemented intervention programs for several human service organizations.
Sebastian holds a PhD in humanities and social sciences from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, and an MSW in social work from Nirmala Niketan College of Social Work, Mumbai.
