The Population Council has established a postdoctoral fellowship program
in Vietnam to facilitate research on topics in reproductive health, health
service systems, and poverty. Currently the Council is not accepting
applications for this program.
-
Recruitment. Postdoctoral fellows
will be recruited globally by the Population Council.
-
Citizenship. Candidates will be considered who are
citizens of Vietnam or other countries in the region. Priority will be given
to recruiting Vietnamese citizens.
-
Duration. Fellowships will be for two
years.
-
Residence. Fellows will be resident in Vietnam.
-
Professional
exchanges. The fellowship program will encourage the participation of fellows in
international conferences and exchanges with international scholars.
Conference attendance will be subject to the availability of external
funding and the participation of fellows in scientific presentations.
-
Capacity building. As part of Council research team(s), fellows will
provide capacity building in advanced research skills to Vietnamese
researchers. Fellows will also be encouraged to pursue their own
writing and research with a designated portion of time.
-
Equipment.
Participants in the program will be provided with computer equipment and
software. Equipment provided to seconded fellows will become the property of
their agency of residence.
-
Administration. Fellows will be provided with
guidelines that document their roles. Some fellows may be assigned to
Vietnamese universities or institutions for all or part of the duration of
their fellowships. When fellows are assigned by the Council on secondment to
other institutions, memorandums of understanding will be developed to guide
collaborative arrangements. Fellowships will be administered by the
Population Council headquarters office in New York. All fellows who are
assigned to the Population Council's Vietnam office will report to the country
director. Any fellows assigned
under secondment to other institutions will report to heads of institutions
or units where they are assigned, as specified in relevant memorandums of
understanding.
-
Mentoring. A designated Population Council mentor from the
Vietnam, Asia, or New York offices of the Council will provide technical
guidance on research work to each fellow. All Population Council research in
Vietnam is collaborative with Vietnamese social research, academic, or
public health institutions.
- Language. Fellows must demonstrate proficiency in English and
Vietnamese.
