STRENGTHENING PROFESSIONAL RESOURCES
Technical Assistance/Institution Building

Since the Council's founding in 1952, the number of requests for advice from developing country leaders has grown considerably. In response, Population Council staff members realized that training and institution building should be added to the organizational portfolio of activities as a mechanism for achieving its mission.

The Council provides technical assistance, offers workshops, and teaches courses for local institutions, donors, as well as governmental and nongovernmental agencies. Investments in training and strengthening capacity ensure that the Population Council can make a continuing contribution to reproductive health and family planning programs and policies.
