Eileen Yam

Associate

Eileen Yam is an associate with the HIV and AIDS program at the Population Council. She is responsible for providing technical assistance and managing the implementation of evaluation studies and operations research in the areas of sexual and reproductive health and HIV integration; prevention of mother-to-child transmission; and reproductive health needs of vulnerable populations in Africa and Asia.

From 2004 to 2007, she served as regional program associate in the Reproductive Health program at the Population Council's Mexico office, where she conducted research on family planning, unsafe abortion, and HIV/STIs in the Latin America and Caribbean region.

Prior to rejoining the Population Council in 2012, she was a monitoring and evaluation manager for the Private Sector Partnerships-One (PSP-One) family planning project under Abt Associates, as well as a research and evaluation specialist in the population and social transitions program at the International Center for Research on Women (ICRW).  

Her recent publications have appeared in International Perspectives on Sexual and Reproductive Health, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, and International Journal of Gynecology and Obstetrics.

Yam received a PhD in population, family, and reproductive health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She also holds an MPH in maternal and child health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Public Health, and a BA in anthropology from Yale University.
