Population Council Research that makes a difference

Ismat Ara Hena

Senior Program Officer

Ismat Ara Hena has been a program officer with the Population Council in Bangladesh since 2007. She is primarily affiliated with the Council's Reproductive Health program. Hena's work has been in the field of population and reproductive and maternal health–related research and evaluation. Her key areas of expertise include providing technical assistance in designing, budgeting, monitoring, implementing, and evaluating health programs. She has expertise in designing operations research and logical framework-based programs and implementation plans.

For the past three years, Hena has coordinated research activities with national and international agencies for Council projects. She plays a key role in disseminating research findings to policy planners and program managers at national and district levels. Prior to joining the Council, she worked with Plan Bangladesh as a health coordinator. She also worked as project manager in Center for Development Services. Hena obtained her medical degree from the University of Dhaka. She completed her master's in health and international development at Flinders University of South Australia.
