James R. Foreit, Dr.P.H.
Senior Associate
James R. Foreit is a senior program associate in the Population Council's Reproductive Health program. He is responsible for building the capacity of Council partner organizations to conduct and utilize operations research in solving reproductive health service delivery problems. Foreit was also the director of the Council's INOPAL II and III operations research projects in Latin America and the Caribbean. Before joining the Population Council, he was a staff member at the Center for Population and Family Health at Columbia University. Foreit has conducted research and capacity-building activities in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East.
Foreit's current area of interest is the financial sustainability of reproductive health programs. He has also written about the community-based distribution of contraceptives, the contraceptive behavior of adolescents and young adults, HIV/AIDS prevention, and postpartum contraception.

Task-sharing between Community Health Workers and Community Mid-level Professionals: Increasing Access to FP and RH Services (more)
With the aim of improving access to family planning and reproductive health services in rural areas, the Council is conducting research to investigate how different cadres of health workers function in relation to each other in five priority countries: Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Kenya, and Pakistan.
