Md. Noorunnabi Talukder

Program Officer

Md. Noorunnabi Talukder is a program officer with the Population Council in Bangladesh. He is affiliated with the Council's Reproductive Health program and is responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating operations research in reproductive health. His key strengths are developing proposals, constructing data-collection instruments, performing data analysis, and writing up and disseminating research findings.

Talukder has almost seven years of professional experience in population and health research. His work has focused on health sector reform, health systems research, poverty and reproductive health, the quality of services, health care financing, and public policy analysis. He has published several articles in scholarly journals, co-edited a book, and co-authored several book chapters. His developing research interests lie in health equity, health economics, governance, migration, and urbanization. 

Talukder received both his master's in population sciences and his master's in social sciences in international relations from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Identifying Mechanisms to Strengthen Facilities Providing Delivery and Newborn Care Services (more)
Although rates of maternal mortality have decreased in Bangladesh, utilization of facility-based delivery care has remained low because of facility shortcomings and service non-availability; the Council conducted this study to determine the sources of these shortcomings and to identify mechanisms to strengthen facilities, thereby increasing facility-based delivery and further reducing maternal and infant mortality in rural Bangladesh.
