Peter  Miller

Associate II & Country Director

Peter Miller is country director for the Council’s Vietnam office. He also directs a project on utilizing evidence for decisionmaking in Thai Nguyen province, including the development of a computerized health management information system from the commune (primary health care) level. The project also involves substantial health research in the province. Miller also oversees the Council’s capacity-building work in Vietnam.

Miller has worked in international population and health since he joined the Council in 1970; he has worked for the Council in the Philippines, Egypt, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Vietnam, and for other organizations in Egypt, Indonesia, and Pakistan. His work has included demography, public health research, technical assistance, and capacity building.

Miller has a B.A. from Princeton University in Oriental studies and an M.S.P.H. in biostatistics from the University of North Carolina.

Council researchers evaluated and are working to improve Thai Nguyen's HMIS through developing a computerized HMIS, using software to improve the accuracy of the health data collected, and increasing use of HMIS data to improve health care.
