Samir Souidi

Senior Programmer/Database Developer

Samir Souidi is an application programmer/database developer in the Population Council's Information Technology department. Souidi brings to the Council more than six years of experience in application and database development. Prior to joining the Council, he worked for Wildcat Service Corporation, the John V. Lindsay Wildcat Academy Charter School, and The Partnership for the Homeless as a senior database developer, operation research analyst, and technology consultant. In those roles, Souidi led several projects to streamline administrative processes and develop computer-based surveying software.

At the Council, Souidi’s role is to help automate administrative processes and provide technical assistance and support to research projects, such as software development and design for audio computer-assisted self-interviewing (ACASI) projects. He also is a member of the Microbicide Trials Network (MTN), which has provided funding for the Council’s customized ACASI software for three clinical trials.

Souidi has a bachelor of arts in business administration from the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce in Morocco and a master of science in information systems from Pace University. He also has completed a certificate program for Microsoft-certified database administrators. He is fluent in Arabic and French.

Malawi Schooling and Adolescent Study (more)
This six-round longitudinal study aims to identify critical aspects of school quality that put adolescents who face the dual challenges of poverty and HIV/AIDS on a safer, healthier, and more productive path to adulthood. Our research seeks to uncover those aspects of schooling that will lead to more protective behaviors and lower HIV risk among young men and women.
