Senior Program Associate Profile James R. Foreit is a senior program associate for the Frontiers in Reproductive Health program of the Population Council. He is responsible for building the capacity of Council partner organizations to conduct and utilize operations research in solving reproductive health service delivery problems. Foreit was also the director of the Council's INOPAL II and III operations research projects in Latin America and the Caribbean. Before joining the Population Council 18 years ago, he was a staff member at the Center for Population and Family Health at Columbia University. Foreit has conducted research and capacity-building activities in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East. Foreit's current area of interest is the financial sustainability of reproductive health programs. He has also written about the community-based distribution of contraceptives, the contraceptive behavior of adolescents and young adults, HIV/AIDS prevention, and postpartum contraception.
