Fernando R. Gonzáles, M.D.
In-Country Advisor

Profile

Fernando Gonzáles is the in-country advisor for Bolivia for the Population Council's Frontiers in Reproductive Health Program. He coordinates and provides technical assistance on operations research in reproductive health issues, with an emphasis on family planning. His research interests include: quality and cost of reproductive health services, unmet needs for contraception and reproductive health care, gender inequities, and male involvement in couples' decisionmaking.

Prior to joining the Council, Gonzáles worked for Save the Children as a health and nutritional advisor on child survival and for reproductive health projects in Bolivia developing, implementing, and evaluating programs. Gonzalez has published many articles and given presentations at conferences and workshops in Bolivia and other countries. He has an M.D. in pediatrics.
