Shireen J. Jejeebhoy, Ph.D.

Profile

Shireen J. Jejeebhoy is a senior associate based in New Delhi, where she directs research activities related to sexual and reproductive health and rights in India. The current major focus of her research is on young people’s sexual and reproductive health and rights, including the formation and experience of sexual partnerships, and livelihoods.

Before joining the Population Council, Jejeebhoy worked at the World Health Organization in Geneva as a scientist in the UNDP/UNFPA/WHO/World Bank Special Programme of Research, Development and Research Training in Human Reproduction. Her work focused on social science research on reproductive health issues. She has written extensively on issues related to adolescent and young people’s sexual and reproductive health; reproductive health and population; and women’s autonomy in India. Jejeebhoy holds Ph.D. and M.A. degrees in demography from the University of Pennsylvania.
