Thank you for considering a gift to the Population Council to fund its work with the Ghana Essential Medicines Initiative (GEMI).

Around the world, the Population Council helps save lives by studying global health problems and designing and testing local solutions.

In Nkwanta, in northern Ghana, there is a high prevalence of disease, high infant and child mortality, poor maternal health, and high fertility. In addition, reproductive health services are inadequate, more than one-third of children are not immunized, and approximately 25 percent of children under five years of age suffer from severe malnutrition.
