Twenty-five years ago, the ICPD Programme of Action articulated a bold new vision putting each and every person’s right to sexual and reproductive health and reproductive rights at the heart of development and acknowledging that gender equality and women and girls’ empowerment are essential to achieve sustainable development. The Nairobi Summit on ICPD25 is being convened to galvanize partnerships and political and financial commitments to urgently finish the unfinished business of the landmark ICPD Programme of Action and to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.
