The Population Council is very pleased to announce Ann K. Blanc as the new Chair of the Editorial Committee of Studies in Family Planning. Ann is Vice President of Social and Behavioral Science Research, a role that includes overseeing the Council's two scholarly journals.
Under Ann’s leadership, the Council is increasing investments into rigorous research on cutting-edge priorities in girls’ education, stigma and gender inequality in HIV/AIDS, maternal health, resilience and environmental stressors, the introduction of sexual and reproductive health technologies, and the scaling up of evidence-based programs for adolescent girls. Ann has been a dedicated Studies’ Committee member since 2009; her outstanding scholarship and deep commitment to publishing high quality scientific research will undoubtedly benefit the journal for many years to come.
After 35 years on the Editorial Committee of Studies in Family Planning, John Bongaarts, Vice President and Distinguished Scholar, has stepped down as Chair. The journal thanks John for his essential contributions and service. John will be the guest editor of a forthcoming special issue featuring his selections of the most influential Studies articles of the past few decades.
