The Population Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Tony Dutson as Vice President for Corporate Finance and Administration (CF&A). Dutson will oversee the financial, administrative, and organizational health efforts of the Population Council working in close collaboration with fellow Executive Team members, including two newly appointed Vice Presidents. These three appointments complete the Executive Leadership Team.
Dutson brings three decades of finance, business, and operations experience in both the private and public sectors to the Population Council. He has a strong track record of leading effective operational strategy and optimizing business processes. For nearly 12 years, Dutson oversaw the finance, accounting, and treasury functions at Gavi – the Vaccine Alliance (the multi-billion-dollar public/private global health partnership) serving as its Senior Director, Finance; Chief Accounting Officer; and in other capacities. He has deep expertise providing financial and administrative management for non- and for-profit organizations funded by clients including the US Agency for International Development (USAID), the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
“With the appointment of Tony and our other new Vice Presidents, I am confident we have the experience, expertise, and commitment needed to accelerate the delivery of our mission and advance our efforts to shift our center of gravity to the places where we seek to have the most impact and to become even more globally collaborative and inclusive,” said Julia Bunting, President of the Population Council. “We’ve built a foundation over nearly 70 years and I’m excited to expand on that as we navigate the next phase in our journey.”
