Andrea Eschen is the Director of Business Development at the Population Council. Working closely with country and program teams across the organization and leading a department responsible for new business capture and proposal development, she oversees new business opportunities with public sector donors (US and foreign governments, development banks and international agencies) and large foundations for the Council’s three program areas: HIV and AIDS; poverty, gender, and youth; and reproductive health.
Eschen helps the organization plan and meet annual revenue targets and win rates, oversees capacity building of global staff on business development processes, develops corporate business standards and processes, and contributes to annual work planning and budgeting. She has been with the Council since 2009. Prior to this, she worked at the Rainforest Alliance as Associate Director of Development focusing on individual giving. Before this at EngenderHealth, she was the Senior Director for Business Development after starting there as Senior Director for Latin America. She has now come full circle back to the Population Council after starting her career here coordinating family planning and reproductive health programs worldwide.
