Hashim Ahmed

Hashim Ahmed is the Director of Research and Development at the Population Council's Center for Biomedical Research. He manages and leads the pharmaceutical product development groups.

Ahmed is an industrial pharmacy expert with decades of experience at companies in the United States and globally. Before joining the Council, he served as Managing General Director of Life Pharma, Qatar. In this role, he managed pharmaceutical research and development, regulatory, manufacturing, and business development. 

At Roche and Stiefel-GSK, Ahmed supported teams to develop robust products for clinical studies and to market. He was Senior Director and Global Head of Technology Transfer at Roche, overseeing the business and global technology transfer functions. Ahmed was Head of Technology Transfer at Dr. Reddy's Laboratories; and also led formulation and manufacturing for Avomeen, solving development challenges for pharmaceutical companies and establishing an injectables biologics manufacturing line. 

A recipient of many awards and fellowships, Ahmed has 21 patents or inventions, has presented at conferences around the world, and is widely published, including authorship of four book chapters.

Ahmed is a member of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, British Scientific Committee, and the Sudanese Medical Council.
