Shannon Harvey leads the Population Council’s Philanthropy team, inspiring individuals to support the organization in achieving our mission around the world. She also serves as Chief of Staff, focused on leveraging the Office of the President to increase the visibility and impact of the Council’s evidence.
Shannon has over a decade of experience in non-profit communications, fundraising and policy research in New York, the United Kingdom and Australia. Prior to joining the Population Council, she led fundraising and communications for a New York City homelessness non-profit. Previously, in the UK, Shannon was Head of Research in the campaigns division of the non-profit Shelter, where she led a team delivering studies that influenced policymakers to address affordable housing shortages, and designed a cross-organizational impact measurement framework. Across different roles and continents, a common thread has been her commitment to improving the lives of women and girls, including work on gender-based violence, homelessness, and criminal justice.
Shannon holds a Masters in Peace and Conflict Studies and a Bachelors in Government & International Relations and Anthropology, both from the University of Sydney, Australia.
