Sophie Soares is a Staff Associate and Project Manager at the Population Council. She co-leads the Adolescent Girls Community of Practice, supporting a wide portfolio of local partners to use evidence-based tools and best practices to innovate, establish, and bring to scale girl-centered programming among the hardest-to-reach adolescent populations.

Prior to this role, Soares served as Project Coordinator to Population Council’s DREAMS Capacity Strengthening project, sharing resources and providing mentorship, technical support and hands-on workshops to strengthen the capacity of partners involved in DREAMS to develop and implement new approaches to reach girls and young women at highest risk of HIV infection.

Before joining the Council, Soares conducted field work on the adolescent girl experience in India and Indonesia and served as a data coordinator and case manager at Mount Sinai’s Adolescent Health Center in New York City, focusing on reproductive and sexual health.

Soares has her Masters of Public Health in Population and Family Health, with a focus on forced migration and humanitarian assistance, from Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University.
